Tarot is a structured systemic tool using a total of 78 cards in a deck. Some Tarot decks do vary and may have more than the original tarot system. Originally tarot was a game card deck, much like Uno or Solitaire, in 1430’s Italy. Tarot was not used as a “fortune telling” deck until later in the 1700’s, until getting a massive facelift in 1909 by A.E. Waite and artist Pamela Coleman Smith. They gave birth to what you see today. There are many different types of tarot decks now.
Oracle are themed decks by the author. They have a broad range of concepts for meditation, magick, or inspiration. It is whatever the author of the oracle deck sets out to do.
